For the use of electric vehicles, rotating the movable stator in this study will either manually or automatically change the motor torque. Figure 17 compares torque variations with the rotation angle between numerical and analytical results. The numerical results are calculated by the ANSYS Maxwell software, and the analytical results are calculated by using (37). The designed dimensions are listed in Table 1. As shown in Figure 17, the numerical and analytical results match well from 6.3 to 16.3 deg rotation angle of the movable stator. The 2.3 and 19.9 deg of moving angles of the movable stator represent the leftmost and rightmost movable stator positions, respectively. The analytical results are higher than numerical ones when the movable stator is moved to either the leftmost or rightmost position. This is caused by magnetic saturation that is not taken into account in analytical models.
